Does Hair Transplant Work After a Certain Age?

Hair implant, also known as hair transplant, is a procedure that involves a surgical operation, where a surgeon extracts hair follicles from the back of the head, usually known as the donor, and transplants them on areas experiencing hair thinning, at the front or crown sides, usually the recipient.

Besides hair implants as a way of treating hair loss, some drugs are available over the counter, which can also be useful in preventing hair loss or improving the density and thickness of hair. For example, the application of minoxidil directly on the scalp increases blood circulation, thus leading to the growth of new follicles hence improving hair growth and density.

FUE Hair transplant may be a permanent way to solve hair loss problems, although it might take a bit longer to achieve their hair goals. One can also decide to use both hair transplant surgery and over-the-counter drugs for faster and better results.

Does Hair Transplant Work After a Certain Age?

Any person above eighteen years can use a hair transplant procedure to restore their hair. However, it is usually advisable to wait until they reach twenty-five years and above for the transplant to be effective. At a younger age, it is hard to determine the hair loss pattern since the hair is still in the process of receding.

People who perform hair transplants at a younger age may also experience hair loss some ten years later. It may lead to the visibility of the transplanted strips, which are permanent. This is why it is always advisable for those who use hair implants at a younger age to also use other treatments or prepare for future hair transplant surgery for perfect results. Hair transplant procedures are known to be more effective than other hair loss treatments.

However, some of the factors to put into consideration are;

i)Transplanted hair is just like regular hair; hence may fall after some time.

 ii) In three to four months after the transplantation, ten to eighty percent of hair will have grown fully.

 iii) Platelets Rich Plasma (PRP) can help up to seventy-five percent of transplanted hair to grow back fully. A research study was recorded after examining many people who performed Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and PRP. This is advantageous for people who have dormant hair follicles since the hair transplant may be unsuccessful for them.

 iv) A researcher has also found that a mean of 8.3 out of 10 people obtained satisfying results after they used scalp hair together with body hair to perform a Follicular Unit Extraction transplant procedure.

People who experience natural thinning of hair, balding, or even hair loss resulting from the injury are ideal for hair transplant since the surgeon needs to use your hair to restore and correct the hair thinning in a specific area.

Hair Implants May not be Suitable for You if;

 i)You are suffering from hair loss due to medications or chemotherapy.

 ii) You have widespread baldness and hair thinning.

 iii) You had a severe injury making you have thick scalp scars.

Conclusion

The use of hair implants may be the best solution for restoring hair in different parts of the body. It improves self-confidence in people who suffer from thinning hair and may bring long-lasting results which may otherwise be permanent.
