This year’s jewellery trends are a powerful and energising mix of chains and cuffs, gemstones and beads, mismatched and extra-long pieces. One of our favourite jewellery trends for this spring/summer season is statement earrings. Think big and then go bigger with the best shoulder grazing statement earrings this season.
What are statement earrings?
Statement jewellery is typically oversized accessories that are bold, striking and unique in design. With styles and designs getting bigger, bolder and flashier, statement earrings have also got longer and more decorative. Long gone (but not forgotten) are the restrained muted studs of the past. Larger than life earrings have stolen the show and many fashion designers have been featuring shoulder-length creations in their collections.
Statement earrings typically include dangles, tassels, sparkles, intricate shapes, large sizes and bold colours. Incorporating clear crystals like quartz into a pair of statement earrings adds a great amount of shine and sparkle as they catch the light from every angle.

Balance it out with a loud outfit and place your hair on the other side of your head so the single earring is the star of the show.

Last but not least, we have mismatched statement earrings. This trend is for those who really want to break out of the box and mix it up with their accessories. Simply pair one outrageous earring with another for an asymmetric flamboyant vibe. For example, incorporate a few of the trends mentioned above, like a long pearl studded earring with a glittery tassel, for an abundance of texture and sparkle. This is also a great trend that helps you get more use and wear out of your earrings. If this trend is a little too out there for you, try mix and matching the placement of your earrings. For example, take a pair of statement earrings and combine them with some simple studs. Instead of wearing both statement pieces in the same piercing, mix up your piercing holes and put one earring in your first piercing and the other in your second on the opposite ear.
