All About Deo Tibba Base Camp

How to reach :

You can reach the Deo Tibba Base camp by;

Air – As there are no such direct airports at Manali you have to get off from your flight at Bhuntar Airport which is 50 Km away from Manali and then hire a cab or hop onto a bus towards Deo Tibba Base Camp.

Train – The nearest Railway Station is the Ambala Cantonment. You can also opt to get down at Chandigarh Railway Station and it mainly falls on the way from the Amritsar-Delhi track.

Road – You will get plenty of options to reach your base by bus. You can hire a cab or get into a private bus from Delhi or Chandigarh or Dehradun or Ambala, they will take you towards your desired spot. It is the only feasible route to Deo Tibba Base Camp.

 

Things to carry :

Remember to carry these items with you on your trek –

  1. Carry three to four warm clothes and t-shirts, pack three to four pairs of trousers, carry a blanket to keep you warm on your journey nights.
  2. Wear trekking footwear and carry extra pair of flip flops and three socks
  3. Take with you a trekking stick, a torch and extra batteries, a charger for your cell phone, an umbrella, a raincoat, and your sunglasses.
  4. Pack two 1-liter water bottles and a thermos flask and a few dry foods.
  5. See a doctor before you set out for your trek. Make sure to carry the medications prescribed to you.

 

Best time to visit :

It is advisable to visit the Deo Tibba Base Camp from May till October. You might get snow in May and in October but in between the other months, there are very few chances of walking through snow. The snow melts by August and in Lahaul and Spiti the atmosphere is warmer there.

 

Level of difficulty :

The Deo Tibba Base Camp trek is not much of a hectic one and its level is lurking in the moderate zone. Though it is not so easy of a trekking zone, you need proper physical strength to reach the trekking spots. It is more of an intermediate and advanced trekkers trekking zone.

 

Reasons to do :

You can trek at the picturesque scene of Emerald Lake; the Mini Chandratal Lake. You sense the beautifully illustrated natural wonder through your soul. The graceful glaciers of Mt.Deo Tibba and the Jagatsukh will fill you with all its holiness during your journey.

  3. Tainta
  4. Mini Chandratal

The locals of Deo Tibba are religious and superstitious people on one hand and on the other hand, they are very warm people also. According to them, Deo Tibba is a land where the heavenly Gods descend to hold meetings. The peaks are revered as a sacred site. They believe in the supernatural powers of the divine beings of the mountain peaks.

 

Some facts :

There are alpine meadows, streams, thick forests, waterfalls and the crystal clear emerald waters of the mini Chandratal Lake is a sight to behold. The mythological sources of the Deo Tibba peak add a hue to the mystical and adventurous journey towards the peaks. If you wish to be a part of the divine essence of nature then this is your spot but it is not much of a beginner’s (trekkers) destination.
